Kelowna, December 30th 2020 – Vinica Education Society is launching a new training program for aspiring BIPOC wine professionals. The local non-profit has emerged with a fully- funded skills training program for BC residents, beginning early 2021. Vinica’s mission is to support diversity in the wine industry through innovative education and professional mentorship. They recognize that people of all backgrounds are passionate about wine, but often experience barriers to participation and advancement.
With the goal of developing BIPOC leaders in the BC wine industry, Vinica is thrilled to be offering placements in their first AgriDiversity Wine Industry Training Program, and have been awarded funding support by the Province of British Columbia and contributions from the BC Wine Institute and the Wine and Spirit Education Trust.
Vinica’s 10-week training, mentorship, and internship program will support aspiring BIPOC wine professionals to advance their careers, and the training will be offered as a blended delivery via online and classroom sessions, between February and April 2021. How to Apply
Those interested in working at the management leadership level in the wine industry are encouraged to apply before January 15, 2021. Requirements for the program: to identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of colour, and prerefence will be given to individuals between 19 and 29 years of age.
